Dosage
Usual Adult Dose for Plaque Psoriasis
Cream:
-Begin therapy with the 0.05% cream: Apply a thin film once a day in the evening, covering only the psoriatic lesions; if the 0.05% strength is tolerated, the strength may be increased to 0.1%, if needed

Gel:
-Begin therapy with the 0.05% gel: Apply a thin film once a day in the evening covering only the psoriatic lesions to no more than 20% of body surface area; if the 0.05% strength is tolerated, the strength may be increased to 0.1%, if needed

Comments:
-If a bath or shower is taken prior to application, the skin should be dry before applying the cream.
-If emollients are used, apply at least one hour before this drug.
-Avoid applying to unaffected skin because it may be more susceptible to irritation.

Uses:
-The cream (0.05% and 0.1%) is indicated for the topical treatment of plaque psoriasis
-The gel (0.05% and 0.1%) is indicated for the topical treatment of stable plaque psoriasis of up to 20% body surface area involvement

0.1% cream: Apply a thin layer once daily in the evening to skin areas where acne lesions appear; use enough to cover the entire affected area
0.1% gel: Apply a thin film once daily in the evening to skin areas where acne lesions appear; use enough to cover the entire affected area; use beyond 12 weeks has not been studied

Other Comments
General:
-For topical use only.
-Not for ophthalmic, oral, or intravaginal use.
-Patients should be advised to wash their hands after application of the gel to avoid accidental transfer to the eyes.
-If contact with eyes or mucous membranes occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
-Wash hands thoroughly after application.
-If skin irritation develops, interrupt therapy.
-Advise patients to avoid excessive exposure to UV light (e.g., sunlight, use of a solarium, PUVA, or UVB) during therapy.
-This drug should be administered with caution if the patient is also taking drugs known to be photosensitizers (e.g., thiazides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, phenothiazines, sulfonamides) because of the increased possibility of augmented photosensitivity.
