Description - Use of alcohol or products containing alcohol during ornidazole therapy may result in a disulfiram-like reaction in some patients. There have been a few case reports involving metronidazole but the evidence is inconclusive. The proposed mechanism is metronidazole inhibition of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) similar to disulfiram.

Instructions - Avoid the uptake of alcohol for at least three days after taking this medicine.
